It has been a month, almost to the date, since our Mac crashed. On Sunday KB had to make a business trip to a large city, and there they had a Mac store. They took one look at our computer and said, "this is common." Essentially our hard drive died, dead, gone. One of the reasons we bought this computer was because it was supposedly better than a PC about not crashing, but not in our experience.
We survived this past month by using LB's 6 year old Dell that she brought only because it has her counseling files on it and she has to keep them with her. It is like a brick, but it worked. We could only open one application at a time, but like we said, it worked - that was good enough for us at the time. One day LB got a little ambitious and greedy and tried to install our camera software onto it so that she could send the grandparents some photos...it took an entire day to get the old thing to restart, and we immediately uninstalled the said camera software.
We are still going to buy a new computer. We never want to be in this sort of situation again where we have a possibilty of losing communication with friends and family just because a machine that we trust is untrustworthy. Thank you to the friends who have helped us with purchasing the new laptop. It will be arriving via LB's family shortly.
We have so much to post and so many photos to share. We will be playing catch-up, so check back often.
