In May AB's immunizations just happened to fall on Mother's Day, yippee. Since AB spit out her last immunization, and I have had no luck with her vitamins, I was willing to take any advice that I had not yet tried. I read online and others told me to give AB some sugar water before I gave her the oral immunization. I think it was to introduce her to having something put into her mouth (other than when she feeds from me), and by giving her something sweet hopefully it would be a positive experience since babies tend to naturally like sweet things. I had been prying the whole week that AB would not spit out her immunization, and I was going to do whatever I could to make sure she swallowed it.
She swallowed it! I gave her a couple tiny spoons of very thick sugary water. She seemed to like it and then I shot the immunization in the back of her mouth. I closed it and hoped she would swallow. She did. Happy Day!
If you like lots of pictures than you are in for a treat. KB posted EVERYONE of the photos from our second round of immunizations.
The below photo is of my best attempt at creating a prepared environment for the shots. Baby Tylenol, alcohol wipes, cotton ball, Band Aid, and very sweet water (more like syrup).
Here I am giving AB the sugary water. It made a sticky mess since it is both sticky and AB had never been fed something before.
Getting ready to shoot it into her mouth.
Holding her tiny little chin tight so that she cannot open her mouth. I felt so mean!
